right long story short..i have a 1.9d 1983 panel van with a 1.6 d box,last month went to move it and it stuck in 3dr gear,as ther gearbox was pritty naff..so took it out got a good second hand box,refitted it tonight only to find that i cant get any gears,still fills like stuck in gear,the gear stick i mean,the rear gear slecktor part that bolts the box by a 19mm nut doent seam to be atached,it just seams to sit in the gear selector rod?tis right???also the spline part that bolts to the box by a 13mm nut seams to be a bit worn,and dont mean the spline shaft in the box that looks ok,we couldnt turn the spline shaft with mole grips on the box?sorry if this seams a bit of a naff topic but need some help to gewt my van back on the road..many thanks si

can you select the gears without the shaft connected?

we tryed some mole grips on the splined shaft that come out of the box,but both boxes dont seam to turn?
any ideas to check that gearbox going in to gears ok by hand?

when i maen tryed both i mean the old box we tryed aswell?

anyone sheds some more light on this for me..
