Has anyone had a problem with their window rubbers for factory windows? I bought the whole set from them. They all sealed nicely except for the tailgate rubber. The rubber is seated correctly but the are gaps between the rubber and the metal. Not everywhere but in places up to 1.5mm. This is the second rubber with the same fault as they replaced the first one. Must be a faulty batch.

Where can I buy another as water leaking in isn't ideal.

I had one of these fitted last year with no problems. Was a bit cheaper back then though...

Theyhas just emailed to say that is must be the fact that my window is double glazed???

I might insert a length of string In the channel where the glass sits to see if it will make the rubber sit better against the metal.

Update.

The string idea didn't work. I now think it is the angle of the channel.

I ordered one genuine rubber from VW Status. It has moulded corners unlike the JK one. Fitted very easily and is lovely and tight against the metal.

I now understand why people moan about the quality if JK parts.

See - like trying to squeeze a car tyre through a letterbox. They're poo.

On the plus side with all the practice I've had I can remove and refit the rear window in under 15mins.

Autoglass are struggling to fit the side windows in my resprayed van and have resorted to fitting the glass with the old seals.
I contacted JK and they tell me that http://www.ahschofield.co.uk/80-91-st.php use identical seals and they have just confirmed that to me on the phone.
I'm stumped.

I had a similar problem when I fitted the rear window with a new JK seal, all the other windows were no problem at all but the rear was a pig. How we got it fitting right in the end was (after slotting it in at the top and getting it sitting in with the string method) to sit on the engine cover, tailgate slightly open with window suction handles on both sides of the glass, person inside with feet against the bottom of the tailgate pulling in and down whilst the person standing outside pushed in and down on the window...

We were both were expecting the glass to crack but it worked. Wouldn't recommend it though!

The problem is the side windows though.
I'm not a window fitter but it occours to me that soaking them in soapy hot water might ease the process.
Any thoughts?

I'm having major problems getting my side windows fitted with JK rubbers by two different autoglass bods who indendently say the glass is too thick.
JK offered this explanation also as they have encountered this before on converted vans.
My obvious question was how did Autosleeper manage 25 years ago.
The front and back windows went in a treat as they were factory originals.
They suggest new glass or having the existing windows bevelled by a glazing firm.
This seems bizarre to me but I'm not an expert.
If I have to buy new glass I would go for sliders but would they fit?

I only had a problem with the rear door window. They in went in but the rubber wouldn't sit tight against the metal. They sent a replacement and that didn't sit right either. They the said it must be because my window was a double glazed and must be different in size.

I bought a genuine seal from VW Status that fitted perfectly. JK refunded the one I bought from them.

I wouldn't buy window rubbers from them again.

In that case Tom I think I will send mine back and try your supplier as a first option.
