OK, some of you will alugh, and some will slag me. I used to have a type 2, then a Type 3 fastback, so thoguht I would know these things. Haynes manual on order.
Where is the dipstick?
Oil filler? How do I tighten the alternator belt?
Its a 1982 Aircooled 2 litre engine....
Will try and get a pic of the engine up

Dipstick: behind the number plate (pull down)
Oil filter: just an oil strainer I think? on a 2 litre....might be wrong
Tightening the alternater: by removing spacing washers between the V pulley's (2 halves)

There is an oil strainer and oil filter. Oil filter is underneath left next to the oil cooler.

Not exactly how VW supplied it!!!

Is that a flame thrower coil and dizzy set up?? Does the thing fly or what??

Have you found the washer bottle filler yet? Try under the carpet in the passenger footwell.

Oh, oil filler behind the numberplate flap as well....and the top of the tube pulls out to make filling easier.....

Good luck with your van

Some of you guys may know the old bus, it was in the club 80 90 calendar a couple of years ago, and has club stickers on it

Put some pics on when you get a chance. I'm curious who it used to belong to.
