can a factory fit sliding type window be fitted too a panel van door just by cutting the apeture? Nige seems to think that the campervan /carevelle doors that sliding windows are from had a different top panel to fit the window to.

has anyone retro fitted a sliding window?

(forgot to say, its an early door if that makes any difference)

It can be done Karen but factory windows are recessed not flush - it might look a bit odd or need some fabrication on the van to accept it

Cheers guys....I may have to bin my Idea of having an opening window on the sliding door (thought it would be nice to get fresh air to the back of the van whilst driving )

I can always fit the window from my current door into it

If you need a place to fit it, use Vehicle and Marine in Small Heath. They shouldn't charge too much. I got them to put a new seal on one of my windows and they only charged £20. They fit both their own windows and any that you bring along - they will cut the hole for you too.

Louey sums (sic) it up, no prob fitting an opener its just that a factory one is not the neatest best way to go about it in what is effectivly a panalvan door,

fixed panel sliding windows are larger than later (small handle on slider ) sliding door windows.

early sliders(long handle ) and the windows are the same.
you can fit them but as said they stand a bit proud( so do panel conversion windows tho)

Why not just fit it on the kitchen side - or do you prefer that blanked off?

I've got Louvre windows on the kitchen side, which I quite like cos on a hot day I can keep the one open and still feel that the van is pretty secure (unless Mr. Tickle wants to pinch the van / my stuff)

but If I open them while driving they rattle really loudly and end up closing themselves :|

so I thought while I had a virgin door I may as well make it what I want, but if I can't without it looking silly then it wasn't meant to be!!
