Hi Guys
Shortly after lowering bu 45mm i have generated a knocking sound from i think the drive shafts when going in a strait line no sound but when cornering i get a clunk from i think the drive shafts how would i know without looking if the cv joints are shagged also i have noticed that from the rear of the vehicle if you move the off side drive shaft left and right it returns to the middle but the shaft on the near side always returns to the left clunking against the wheel hub is this normal or is some thing verry wrong ????

Sounds like knackered CV joints.

Good point but the sound dosent happen on aceleration or deceleration and there is no up and down movement on the shaft!

Best bet is to undo them and have a look. It's not a difficult job. 6 bolts and a retaining washer and they're off.
Mine was doing a similar thing to yours and knocking like a good un. I stripped it down and examined it and there was nothing wrong with the cv joint itself, but the old grease had set to a Blu Tack kind if consistency. Gave it a good clean, lathered it with fresh grease and put it back together and it's been fine ever since.
It could just be old sticky grease that's stopping yours from returning to centre. If not, and there is apparent wear or damage, then just replace the cv joint. They're not expensive.

Mine will do this if I have the van too light (ie not enough weight on). I never did pinpoint why but with weight on they shut up so left it at that. Merc Doctor also couldn't find the exact cause either so I suspect the change of angle does effect them, perhaps a fresh area coming in contact as a result. If they've not had fresh grease for a long while, do that and see how it goes.

Just about to try regreasing mine, fingers crossed it does the job, else will relpace joints next week.
Worth a gamble, £5.99 for 500g of M2 grease
