Leisure drive conversion empty space

Hello,

I'm going to ask yet another daft question. There is a space in the interior of my van underneath where the gas tank and water tank go, which has a grate for ventilation to the outside on the bottom. It is underneath a folding section. At the moment I'm using it to route cables from the engine bay to the front, but I wondered if possibly a higher spec interior would have had something here. I'm attaching a photo of my interior from ages ago with an arrow pointing out roughly where his space is (I'm clearly no artist).

Does anyone have this and have something in this space? I'd like to try and use it to put a night heater there or something like that. Getting chilly in Scotland now!

Many thanks in advance for any help or advice.

Ewen

If your talking under the bed it would probabley have had a water tank under there.

Hello - thanks for the reply,

actually it's the space directly to the side of the under-bed space. Sort of in the cupboard! It seems like a bit of a waste of that space to have nothing in it, but it's really hard to get at without dismantling the whole interior (which I'm prepared to do to fit an eberspächer or something like that...

If it has ventilation at the bottom, that suggests to me that maybe the gas is supposed to go there.

That's a good thought - perhaps the gas has been modified at some point, as the gas bottle sits above it at the moment. I'll see if I can fit it down there and move the pipes around. I might even be able to fit the water bottle/tank down there! At the very least I could put another gas bottle down there as a spare!

Thanks a lot for the help

Yes it's the vent for allowing the heavier than air gas to escape in the event of a leak. The gas bottle should be sited over or very close to it. You'll probably find a similar vent in the floor behind your fridge
