Primers

Getting ready to paint the van now that we've used it a few times.
It's obvuious that previous owner 'covered up' a lot of stuff just to get it sold.
Looked at the topic on painting your van and appreciate that many paints don't need primers.
Call me old fashioned but I'm going to remove rust and prime the sites.
Any advice on the best buys.
Eventually going to use Rustoleum.

I used high zinc primer, give a good finish with not to much work after! Tho remember most primers are porous so dont let it stay out in to much rain etc!!

I was under the impression that most zinc based primers (with the exception of bonda primer) don't give very good grip for topcoats. For that reason, I sandblast away the rust, then treat with Vactan and then etch primer and then high build primer, then rustoleum. Its a struggle doing this sort of work at the moment because of the almost constant rain / misty weather.
