Rear Heater Smell

Am getting a "curry" smell from factory fit rear heater on our multivan. Quite nice at first then irritating and the kids are now moaning so I can't put the heater on to lull them off to sleep anymore.
Any ideas on what's causing it and what the cure is?

Not exactly a technical reply but what sort of 'friends' do you have? Some of my 'friends' find nothing more hilarious than pouring milk onto carpets under car driver's seats, bits of kipper into car air intakes, king prawns stuffed into house curtain rails etc etc. Curry would certainly be a natural progression on the theme........

Might also be leaking ever so slightly ...they have a tendency to do that.
Take the cover off and have a looksee (the black, upright board comes off with two bolts and then you can get at the heater cover easily) ...clean it while you're at it, maybe the smell will go away

Ive recently been looking. loads on the samba.
valve on side appears to be more common to go than matrix. Apparently there is an O ring that seals the control valve and its notorious for going south.
