Sorry, another Eber question

Last weekend at northants meet I realised how loud my eber is.

When I fitted it I put 1/2 metre of intake & exhaust, I have this week bought 1.5 metres of exhaust to try and reduce the noise.

2 problems now.... It is quiter but it sounds more of a 'gurgully' (sp) now, is this because it true the pipes need to be balanced?

Also, which hasn't been happened before, it fires up fine but it runs for a couple of seconds and then cuts out, it will smoke for 5 seconds and then fires up fine.

I'm now considering the purchase of a silencer but do I need to balance these pipes & also have I got the exhaust too long?

Eyup Daz,

Apparently the balancing thing doesnt really matter. I have got equal amounts on each side (about a metre i think) - with a silencer on the exhaust (what a difference that makes). The eber has run fine like this for years.

I would think the weird noise is just a case of acoustics?

I thought you sorted you smoking issue out with the new filter?

there is a max length of exhaust, cant remember but used to fit um all the time in trucks, and all over the fitting instructions were saying keep all intake and exh. length the same as so the intake pressure =outlet (or summit like that) also fitting the silencer makes a big difference!

Cheers Ringo,

I have sorted out the smoking problem, it only happened yesterday after I put the longer exhaust on, I wondered if it was linked to the short intake and the longer exhaust???

I will put a silencer on I think and reduce the exhaust to a metre

See you soon Daz

And put a metre intake on
