Jed theres a climbing area in the peak district called stanage, it could be the same sort of area. The rocks look like the peaks. googlemaps put it near sheffield "stanage edge"

I did notice that, and he tried to spot the fella who drove right over it extremely competently without even watching him...

`Your engine is at the back, thats what I like about a T3, its not like when you see these young Mums pushing their kid out in the road in a pram in front of them while they have an ipod on crossing a busy road. We strap our kids on our backs so the important sh*t is behind us out of harms way

Seriously? Would you really consider giving this kind of terrain a go in a Syncro?
I mean, this is isn't just "difficult" or "potentially damaging" ...with our low ground clearance and large overhangs you WILL do damage there and potentially not only on the bash plates either. Depending on what goes wrong, you're looking at dented sills or main members, bent linkages or driveshafts, not to mention the engine sump (bashplate or not).
If I were taken on that trail, I have to say I'd pull the wuss card on that section and turn around

I think it looks worse than it actually is. Id certainly have a go, youve got to at least try havn't you...?
The "Gap" in south wales has got a couple of sections in it that are pretty tough in terms of ground clearance/leading edge type stuff. But on the whole if driven carefully that kind of terrain can result in little damage (a good spotter helps massively). Its all about the line you take, not so much about the vehicle in my opinion.
Ive seen a mate of mine drive a 2cv places a 2cv should not be able to go and that is purely down to his skill as a driver.

Pretty sure several of us have done some of Stanage Edge. was it the one with a very nasty step where Pete & Sharron caught a rim edge and we needed a wheel change in situ (bottle jack job)
Anyone confirm this was same Stanage Edge we did? theres a couple like that but it does look pretty nasty in places re: ground clearance... yes sills can get damaged but sumps not.

Look at the vid again: 2.22 - 2.28 and look at the left rear wheel of the 110. Up and over the boulder and then slip off to the left, placing the boulder between and behind the wheels. Do the same line in your Syncro and you firmly plant your sump on the very same boulder. That's just one example. 6.51 -7.03 is another one.
Of course you could try a different line, but the potential for serious damage is there when you take the Syncro boulder hoppin'

I don't think we drove that lane. Just looked at overlays from 2007 and 2009 - we drove nearby but not the actual lane.
