Bed: Top Bunk

Hi, I have recently brought a 1990 T25 High Top Reimo conversion.
The top bunk does not have the extension required for the kids to sleep in it. I 'think' there may be rails on the ledges which presumably would be used to hold the extension. The ledge on either side has been covered by fabric so I can't say for sure.
I was wondering if the extension can be purchased or what is the best way to have one made up?
Thanks for taking the time to read this.
Cormie.

My hightop is a 1981 but I guess that the bunks would be pretty similar.
The extra board is just a piece of 25mm plyboard with a small strip of wood either end to prevent it slipping off the rails. It has a 2inch thick mattress of foam which is cloth covered. Its about 2ft wide but not exactly sure without going outside & measuring.
Hope this helps

I had to make up an extra bit as my little one was growing to big for the two planks that where already up there, it was very simple I did what Bolukeduke suggests and measured the width needed to be spanned,I used two pieces of wood, some ply and chipboard, The ply for strength and chipboard for rigidity, one 3 inches longer than the other to allow for the lip overhang, and screwed them together, added some foam and covered, I can take some pics tomorrow in the daylight if it would help?

Martin.

Bolukeduke and Martin.

Thanks for your replies and info. I pretty sure I can knock something up based on your specs.

Thanks again.

Cormie.
