evening all - its been a few weeks since I've been on, so hopefully everyones got some trips under their belts this summer.
My van has developed a hesitation when driving and it goes a little like this-

starts up fine, drives fine for the first 10 mins of a trip, then devlopes a hesitation when travelling @ 50-60. It feels like something holds it back for a second or two and then all is fine. It goes on like this for the rest of the journey until I come to slow down for lights or turn @ a junction - this is when she cuts out. I then restart her (fine) but she then runs really lumpy and back fires.

I usually pull over for 10 minutes, start her up again and it the whole process starts again.

any ideas please?

ta for now

Very high probability that when you hit high speeds, the carb is being starved of fuel. Few reasons, but first change your fuel filter (usually under the vehicle towards the front) and then clean the SECOND filter. This one is harder to find but if you remove fuel hose from your carb, and use a large self tapping screw, insert it into brass fuel inlet on carb and you should be able to twist and pull the small cone filter out. It may well be crudded up, stopping fuel from getting into the carb during high demand - in fact either or both filters can cause it. A wash under a tap with washing up liquid etc and dried thoroughly, you should be good to go.

Beyond that, the carb itself may need cleaning but try the filters first. Last but not least, if you haven't changed the air filter in a very long time, replace that too. Problem should vanish with luck.
