Dipstick tube is loose

I've noticed a bit of oil leaking from the base of the tube that the dipstick fits into, the tube itself can be rotated, but doesnt seem to pull out.
Hows it fixed in place as the manuals dont show it, I'm a bit reluctant to just pull hard incase it breaks.
I've searched the site and theres lots on dipdticks needing adjusting for different reasons, but cant find anything on fixing the tube in place.
Thanks

My T25 has a 19d mk1 golf lump in it and its a 13mm bolt on the top end of the dipstick tube. and at the block its a washer and o ring (brickwerks £2.85p). and beleve me you need the washer kit or it will not stop leaking.

On a DG/DJ the dipstick tube has an O-ring at the base as Dug says, once correctly seated the tube should be held firmly in place against the alternator bracket with a clip.

Ah, so me clips missing as it wobbles about.
Will have a closer look and see if I can "manufacture" something
