Oil leak from filler neck (maybe)

Ok so I got my new van home only to find oil spots on the tail gate...

Trying to pin down where it is coming from.

At the moment the wettest place appears to be the underside of the oil filler neck where the narrower pipe meets the wide 'funnel' section.

This seems like an unusual place for a leak as it is well elevated from the sump.

am i right to dismiss this or is it a known problem?

All help is gratefully received.

In addition I am confused by my engine. From all the diagrams I have found the filler neck on my beast looks more like the air cooled petrol engine's.

If anyone with a 1.7 diesel out there could upload a pic of their oil filler etc it would be great?

My filler neck had cracked at the point where it bends to pass the exhaust mount. All replaced and good now (although the brickworks part is not quite the same and in need of some 'tweaking' to get the filler spout to line up with numberplate hole).

Messy job as my catch tank positioning was sub standard. drive way now resembles the deep water horizon incident....
