valuation for insurance purposes

i was speaking to a chap at glynwood insurance about insuring the westy.
i want to know that should my pride and joy get written off somehow or other, i would be able to afford to replace it with the same spec vehicle.
as we all know, with syncros this is getting harder and more expensive yearly and with 16s even more so.
the chap at glynwoods said that someone in the club 80-90 did valuations which were accepted by insurance companies but i cant find any reference in the club pages or the forums.
i have found a chap from the type 2 owners club but was wondering if there was anyone syncro specific .
any ideas?

cool. i like this forum!
thanks Aidan.
i will message Russel. i will give you a shout if he cant/wont/isn't interested.
can it be done with just photos?
i don't fancy having to drive it up to Scotland just for a valuation. (i will go there when i have enough spare cash for a strip down and rebuild!)

My Syncro 16" Caravelle GL LHD dual-fuel is valued by the Gloucester VWT2OC chap. I believe there is one in Devon as well. I'm insured with Glywoods.

I remember getting my westy T2 valued by VWT2OC. Drove all the way to Taunton services(no mean feat in a lowered Bay!). Guy walked round it, knelled down on all four sides, for 5 minutes, talked about the weather & vans for another 10 minutes. Then valued van at what I'd suggested it was worth on the phone two weeks earlier....Great.
