Are the rivinuts used for the front spoiler mounts the same ones as used for the big mirror mounts
- i.e. M6 size that need a 10mm hole?
I would look on vagcat but it appears to be down.

in theory it can be done with a suitable thickness plate as an anvil and a bolt and washers but really the proper tool is the way to go and the small hand tool about £15 will do upto M6 ok, especially ali if you have a good grip; I've got a big fo tool that will do upto M12 but that was £70
vw used rivnuts in the deform panel - the holes are there, and self tappers for the step

Bragging again!

I didn't realise that they were mounted there.
I'll probably wait until I can get a close look at an installed spoiler (probably at Cromer) before commencing.
In fact I'll bring the spoiler with me to Cromer along with rivinuts and screws and see if anyone can bring a tool.

I put the tool together in the thread found on here (couple of nuts and washers - oil after each use) - it worked a treat - had a couple of failures but got them out and refixed. Rivnuts came from local Industrial Suppliers in a bag for a few quid.

If my google bookmarks weren't playing up I would add the url of the link in - it is that sky blue van website with some useful stuff on his site - (can't be any more specific than that - will try harder later).

As usual the amazing 8090 response.

Aidan & Rob - thanks for the offer but I'm going with the Onion option

T'Onion - I'll take you up on this, I'll bring spoiler, rivinuts, screws, leccy drill, bier, sausages, etc.

Armyphil - Never thought about popping it on.

Mikey9 - I also made the tool and failed miserably with it.

Cheers and happy Friday.

Titus

Thank you. The van is green now though and the spoiler fitting guide is in the wiki too

I just couldnt get the homemade rivnut tool to work. I then got the proper tool that does upto M6 and havent looked back since. Its a joy to use!

I then proceeded to use rinuts for the pop-up table (multivan) and Im also gonna put M4 rivuts for the long gray metal seam which keeps the big gray multivan interior in place. I could pop rivet, but then I like the option remove and replace things.

I fitted the spoiler at the in-laws, then drove back to the city and my underground parking space and SCRAPE, it makes pretty big noise on the way down. As anyone else experienced this? has anyone shaved their spoiler a bit?
