Hi folks has anyone experienced petrol leaking from the fuel tank seem?? I'm not sure if it can do this or whether it's coming from somewhere more obvious but just looks as if it's coming from the tank. I normally run on gas but as the petrol was on the red I put about £15 worth in. (no where near full about a qtr of a tank).

The leak's normally at the top but it runs down and drips off or runs round the seam.

Either way I have a horible feeling the tank is going to have to come out to be checked. Mines a nearly T25 (W reg) so im hoping it is only a pipe some where else. Dont know if I can easily get hold on a new tank tha twill fit my van.

Dave worry not Brickie has all the tanks usually in stock, be prepared for it to be corroded though they usually are, often where the breather tubes are brazed in or underneath them

I recently changed mine (89 injection 2.1) it had corroded badly on the front O/S seam (right on the front corner) it had rotted beyond the spot welding line, hence the leak. When it was off the two vent pipes on top were also pretty bad but not quite through.
The replacement cost just over £85.00 new and another £5 for 5.5mm braided fuel hose and clips.

Can confirm that tanks can corrode at seams. This happened to the Joker belonging to Ronsrecord and it stunk Kenilworth out for a week before we got the thing out and replaced. If its dripping now, remove one of the lower hoses and start draining it into petrol cans...
