Advice on a fair price for a Syncro

OK, I'm starting this thread to ask for the general consensus on what a fair price would be for my Syncro camper.
The problem is it's rarety, now this could be a good thing or it could be a bad thing but it's still a VW Syncro in the end so the body and mechanical bits can still be found. Now, how do I make this sound NOT like an advert?
Basic details are as follows:
1990 Syncro Trakka conversion (Australian)
2.1 MV engine fitted with Gasure LPG system
High spec with full electrics/PAS etc
Circa 68k Miles
Very good condition
Lots of unique/special extras (hot and cold water tanks, intergral shower, aircon etc)
Lots of photos available here, pages 5 to 7 are the latest:

Any advice on price guide welcome and banter is expected but please be constructive. Well that's my head well above the parapet .
Thanks,
Fran

Well you didn't keep that for very long mate! and no I can't afford it, as much as I would happily sell half my liver to raise the funds

As sweet as it's been, it's time to scratch the "design and build my own camper" itch, and we never go off-roading so it seems a waste to keep it. The missus also is also still enforcing the one in one out policy on my vans at the minute
How is your home made lifting roof project going, I may be interested in the results/lessons learnt.

The "elevator" project has evolved in my mind's eye - it's going to be spectacular - I just hope it gets built before the kids leave home
What with the 2.6 not behaving on gas the silverbullet going to and from my mate to "bash it about a bit" and now needs painting and electrical sorting (tig brazing the corner of the roof fried the toad immobilizer and upset the c/l), the syncro just sulking in a corner...
You know how it goes.

how about what you paid for it plus what you've spent on it minus what use you've had out of it as a starting point

OK, as for the Syncro aspect, I haven’t tested the VC as yet but will when it goes for it’s MOT in late September and it has a front diff lock which I haven’t tested yet (how do you?). Service history, I have about the last 8-9 years worth, last couple of years it has been serviced at Gasure. Otherwise, the spec of the van is below.
Details:
Registered 1990
2.1 injected petrol with Gasure LPG fitted.
Right hand drive (Aussie import).
Taxed till Aug 2011.
MOT till Oct 2010, will come with another 12 months on it.
Mileage 107539Km, (67254Miles) this will go up as we’ve still 3 weekends camping planned.
The Van:
2.1 MV injected petrol engine, fitted with a Gasure open loop LPG conversion.
5 speed gearbox.
Front diff lock.
Full stainless steal exhaust
3 owners from new.
Outside:
Trakka specific roo bar and rear bumper (Galvanised steel).
Warn winch and accessory kit, currently removed, apparently only winds out!
15 inch alloy wheels.
RHD, 4 light headlights.
Electrically operated and heater wing mirrors.
Spats on 4 wheels.
Mudflaps only on rears.
Wind deflectors on front windows.
Rear towbar, fabricated using a drop plate to allow mounting of bike/wheel racks, box carriers etc.
Rear wash wipe.
Sliding side windows with fly screens.
Side "Safari room" awning.
Draught skirt.
Rear shower room awning.
Inside:
Cobra remote control alarm, also activates the central locking.
Power assisted steering.
Electric windows.
Central locking on all bar tailgate.
Dash mounted air-con.
Swivel Trakka specific front captain seats with adjustable back support for driver.
Space heater with front and rear controls.
Swing and lift out cooker with grill.
Hot and cold water at sink.
Numerous storage cupboards.
Swing and foldout table.
Waeco12V fridge/freezer, new in Jan 08, runs solely off the auxiliary battery.
Auxiliary cooling fan for passengers.
Lined curtains.
Rock and roll bed downstairs.
Full length gas strut supported lift up roof with 3 zip open, fly screened windows.
Full width and long upper bed, also have a shorter board and mattress for it.
Cargo net for upper bed to stop kit and babies from falling on you in the night.
Auxiliary battery under rear seat, charged when hooked into the mains.
Buddy seat with integrated seat belt, bolts between front seats.
Toilet box with Thetford toilet.
Electric hook-up lead.
Unusual features:
Hot and cold under slung water tanks (50 ltrs each), heats up as you drive.
Hand held shower in the back with hot and cold water.
Internal release for rear tailgate, allows you to open it from the inside (well I’ve not seen one before?).
Australian road tax sticker still on windscreen!
Large solar panels on roof for charging auxiliary battery.
Notable work done in recent years:
Regularly serviced by Gasure near Chester.
New clutch in Jan 2009.
Gasure open loop LPG conversion with 64ltr tank in July 2008.
Bodywork and de-rusting done in late 2005, still looking very clean and fresh.
Items done since I’ve owned it:
Replaced all 4 front CV boots, only one was gone but changed all 4 while there.
Fitted a Gaslow refillable bottle to the cooker.
Replaced the gas struts that hold the roof up.
Had the tracking done.
Had a towbar mount fabricated as the previous owner had mislaid the original.
Added wind deflectors to the front windows.
Made a shorter bed board for the up stairs bed (for the kids) as the original is longer than the downstairs.
Known issues:
The cold tap on the sink stopped working last week but I’ve tracked it down to a dodgy micro-switch.
Also included:
Plastic “snorkel” attachment. The last owner told me not to loose it as they’re gold dust!
Warn winch accessory kit, looks unused.
Lots of Aussie specific odds and ends.
Spare engine belts.
Step for getting in and out.

You need to get the syncro side of it all up and working and tested/driven by someone who knows about them. Must be a syncronaut nearby that could offer their time

Just looked at all 129 pics ..... That is a very tidy Syncro and if it all works then I see no reason why somewhere around £15k would be your asking price. Good luck with it
Oddly you only mention a front diff lock!

I'll give it ago...........
Sum you paid + half what you spent on improvements (not service items) + 5% appreciation = Value.
Simples!

Syncropaddy - I think that must be the rear diff lock - basicaly it only has one lock out of a possible 3 fitted.
KarlT - it was January when I bought it.
As for basic equasions for working out the value of a vehicle it's all based on what you bought it for regardless of paying over the odds, or as it was in this case, being lucky. If we all employed those mathematics to our cars the VW scene would be a cheaper place all round and we wouldn't have any traders making a living out of the scene. As for this one coming back up at circa 7K again, you can hope I suppose.

Was it? I remember it being up for around 11k and that was before Fran bought it - I saw it in the metal when I went to view (and then buy) the SA.
Make no mistake, that Trakka is really special.

Time flies!
Don't worry fella, go for what you think. If you can sell it for £16K, its all good as far as I'm concerned. I'm syncro'd out & have no room or time for another. There isn't one I covert. (Although GoldieSyncro is abit special) If people start accepting £12-£16K as the base line for a good camper, well, you never know I may just get my money back on my buses!!
Just what look what £7k gets you in the Aircooled (pre 72') market, Not alot! And a T3 syncro is superior to that in everyway! (except the tax exempt ticket!)
Have to ask, going by your opinions/earlier reply 'Why start this thread?'
Good luck with whatever you do.
