Hot CV's?

I notice that there is evidence of heat on the inner CV. Is this normal?

Is it in 1 spot or regular (5 around the case? as they are heat treated to harden the surface after machining.. if you got the cv that hot (blue IIRC 300 odd deg isnt it?) then I would think it would have failed.....

Its a manufacturing mark and if it got hot enough in service to do that, the boot and grease would have burst into flames!
