If glowing not flashing/bleeping, then may be a badtrack on pcb or bad earth in the oil sender system... damp or corrosion?

Stef, spooky my oil light came on the day after the show. Just needed a top up as I've just done a 1000 miles on new engine, 300 of them on the Sunday.

Stef just thought, put a post up for beaker and ask him the question as I am sure he once told me it could be an alternator problem, something to do with a voltage fault sending false readings.
Hope you and Donna are feeling better and are ready for the next one
Take Care
Steve

At the last oil change I used Halfords semi-synthetic, and after about 300 miles the oil warning lights and buzzer sounds intermitently, and, when I turn the ignition on, the oil warning light goes straight out, before the engine has cranked over.
Have I used the wrong oil? Or is this more likley to be a dodgy connection or oil pressure switch?
1.9 DG engine btw,
cheers,
Rich

in my experience these flat fours dont like semi-syn oil, it finds all the leaks too........
oillight coming on after a long hard run can sometimes be the filter, or oil needing a change.........
give it a oil and filter change anyway, it could do with one!:)
