PAINT advice

Hi there,

New to this forum as have not long purchased a 1990 T25 Westfalia Cali in white .... Overall very good condition but have a few areas of bodywork that need sorting.

Vertical seam behind drivers door which runs down to sill has started to bubble after what looks like previous poor repair, and the rear wheel arch has bubbled and slightly spead over to rear quarter panel which sits above it..

There are other minor rust marks ( inside door footwells, around rear tailgate lock etc )

What I'm asking is, is it preferable to take it to some sort of specialist independent VW (camper type) body shop or a general independent, in that would the VW guys be better equipped to sort out the body work properly, knowing those vehicles, or would those problems i mentioned, just be general body work problems that any body shop would adequately sort out.

Doesn't have to be anywhere near perfect, just want a nice job .....

Suggestions welcome and if anyone knows of such a body shop in the W.London/Middlesex/ ( or wherever (within reason) areas would be most appreciated ....

Oh and nothing too expensive ...

Many thanks guys

Steve

T25s are such big vehicles with so many body panels that I reckon it could get expensive if you have to pay someone to replace panels for you.
If you just want someone to "patch it up" without replacing panels, you run the risk that they will just put filler on top of rust and not remove and treat the rust properly.

I did show one guy who said he would weld a new piece on the curve of the wheel arch and grind out area along seam, re mastic etc ...

He wasnt a VW CV specialist ....
