Kangarooing camper!!

Hi
I have a running problem with my van. It's a 1.9 DG with 140,000 on the clock. Recently it has been doing a random misfire and loss of power and subsequent kangarooing if i put my foot down. It seems to be cured if it stalls (or i turn the engine off) and wait a bit. But then it comes back again, in anything from a few minutes to hours of motoring. Any ideas??

Thanks for the advice. I've looked through many posts and the wiki and started a one thing at a time approach to fixing the random misfire and loss of power. I tested the coil, the secondary resistance is 1.5 k Ohms too high, outside of the working range. Im fitting a new one when the order comes in from G+S as a precaution, but can't help thinking that higher resitance between separate (though electromagnetically linked) circuits would be a good thing, as in this case it basically means insulation. Any thoughts? Vanfest is getting closer!!

Try and suss out if the carb is being starved of fuel before spending any money. See what the output is like on your pump, make sure filter not clogged - both one in carb and on fuel line. Make sure carb is clean.
