I'm having similar problems with a 1.9 DG running on petrol. Could this be something to do with the restricted rotar arm in the dizzy kicking in at 3000 revs.

I remember a friend attacking a restrictor rotor arm with a hammer at a Techender
Word was that they can stick and cause hassles.
Do you have a restrictive one because of LPG???

If mine restricted at 3000 i'd never get anywhere! (1.9dg too)

My van sometimes suffers from delayed reactions in 3rd gear.
Come to climb a hill, not even a steep one, plenty of oomph in 2nd, but as soon as I go up to 3rd even with plenty of revs it's slow to respond and usually means I lose speed. After about 20 seconds I get a response and it begins to accelerate again
Any ideas??

Has this grim sounding sympton struck suddenly, or slowly crept up on you and now its becoming a pain?
Sounds like a flat spot, so do either of you have a non-standard exhaust system, or a blowing exhaust? if that's all in order then an inlet leak, blocked jet, anything typical creating a flat spot at max torque.
Can to some extent prove this by richening it up a bit and seeing if the running cleans up through that range.
...otherwise might be a bit over-advanced, so check the vac-adv-retard is working to spec and th static settins right.

has not creeped over a great long time, std exhaust and no blowing, have got restrcited rotor arm, but has only recently been a problem, but i never had this problem before i changed the arm last year!! maybe worth swapping for a fresh un! got an unrestricted one, but it don't fit!!

Dave, that definitely sounds the best thing to do first off, even get one off a motor you know is going well, for a test with it?

Come to think of it mine started after i changed the rotor arm and dissy, it also got richened up following to try and see if it would work, no joy. Have got new webers put on this week so will see if that and new rotor arm/dissy will do the trick....cheers
