hiya just had my t25 2ltr Aircooled moted and giot a pass but he said it kept cutting out when hot, i brought this van witout a mot and it had been laid up a few months, taken it outtewice today and after about 10 mins if you stop and want it to idle it cuts out, starts again after a struggle and will run fine if the throttle is held open but if you let it idle its gets really slow and cuts out, anyone have any ideas as now its on the road i would like to use it, dont think its anything bad but havnt a clue where to start, im planning on selling it soon as we want another bug instead, any ideas would be great thanks

Dirty fuel, dirt in filter, dirt in carbs..
then give it a bloody good service and set up.. with new rotor arm and cap etc..
Rotor arms do fail when hot somtimes.. but yours sounds like crud in the carbs.... so a full fuel tank and deliveery system check over ought to be done... (tanks rust on top letting in water and dirt, filler pipes too, + the breathers)

hiya thanks for that, i had the carbsoff as when i brought it it wouldnt run cleaned them out, i changed the fuel filter too, its had new plugs but not leads cap or rotor, i havnt a clue how to check the tank and breather over, i just went back out to start her up and she took some turning over then run with throttle open but then on idle just slowed down until she died, i havnt a clue now , think i might sell and cut and run

I've got the same problem when the engine gets warm but haven't had time to trace it yet. I suspect an air leak as there's a hissing/wheezing sound coming from the left side if the engine bay. I reckon the carbs could do with a clean too but I don't know if I'm up for the task.
