Hi
Progressing through doing up the van and i've got to the heat exchangers.
I've got a cj engine (late bay) in an '81 aircolled devon and the heat exchangers are not connected. The duct work is blanked from the exchangers and they both have holes in. Some of the ducting is missing from the rear of the engine bay too.
What i would like to know is:
1: Is it worth replacing the ducting/where can i find it?
2: can the exchangers be plugged with epoxy putty?
3: or is it worth putting a cu back in and replacing the lot!?
Any advice would be great.

Ned
P.S Are elite vw engines any good?

I replaced the left hand side of my ducting with corrugated ally pipe and it works better than before the bits fell off !

Replacement can be bought tho but its pricey stuff (pod switch around £45 for a start)

Plugging the holes is possible, but you really need to see if there is corrosion inside as well (can you smell exhaust in the cab ?)
You dont need them really unless you drive a lot in winter, it wont affect the engine, its just for heat

Thanks
I'll have a go at plugging them and fitting new ducting. Where did you get your ducting? Is it bog standard stuff from halfords or the like?
