Hi

I had a new refurbished engine fitted a while ago and since then the oil warning light comes on after about 30 minutes of driving (mainly when i am stationery). I phoned the garage who fitted the engine and they think this is a fault with the warning light rather than oil pressure and not to worry about it.

I wonder what people thought my option were. I have considered getting a new/larger oil pump fitted. Any ideas of cost for this?. My other option i considered was a slightly thicker oil to see if that fixes the problem. Would this work

Any comments on this or other ideas would be greatly appreciated

Get the oil pressure checked out... could be a faulty switch cheap and easy enough to change.. could be a real problem.. to be fair, if there is a problem a bigger oil pump wont do any good.. normal reason for oil light to come on when hot is the clearance on the main bearings is too great..

I'd be insisting on a propper hot pressure check (dont be fobbed off, the pressure will prob be ok when cold, but hot is the problem) and if not good then its a warranty job...
