Had to have a brand new DG engine fitted to my T25 in a small garage in France. They filled it with 5w 30 synthtic oil.
Had the 500 mile service in VW garage in France, Due to language difficulties I was unable to find out what oil they used.
What oil should I use in this engine????????

I used 15w 40 in the old engine, but was told that new engines were made to tighter tolerances,and needed synthetic oils
Also that it would invalidate the engine guarentee if I did not use VW recomended oils.

It is recommended to use 15w 40 mineral oil

5W/30 is nats twoddle and unsuitable for these engines.
15W/40 mineral changed every 3 to 5,000 miles max/ 1 year.
It doesn't really matter what brand as long as it's changed often and topped up regularly.
