Is it possible to upgrade the gas ignition system on a Electrolux 212 fridge from the push button single spark type to the later electronic switched?
Has anyone done this?
Where would I get the parts?

The main reason for wanting to up?grade is that, as I'm getting older & less agile

, seeing the window and pressing a button while holding another in is becoming less attractive, and the language is getting worse!!

I went other way too - for about £3 installed manual push button to replace faulty electronic.
Can see the advantage of the electronic though as mine goes out on '1'.
You can look here for the unit -

It needs a 12v power supply, switch(illuminated?) and the electronic unit, the HT lead is re-used.
PS. I'm not an authority on this - just had the experience of sorting ignition problem the other way - good luck.

This is the only one I found when looking for my replacement igniter-
http://www.4domex.co.uk/cgi-bin/product ... %20igniter
Sorry but I cant remember how the 12vdc two-wire wiring was connected from supply to switch to igniter.
Got to agree, the push button and tiny window is not the easiest to operate, me being 60+.
Hope this helps.

Hi Croc,
Just looked at that and have decided that I will sub-contract lighting the fridge to Yvonne, after all she is 10 years younger and the price of the igniter is loads of beer!!!!!!!
