Early 1.9dg to 2.1dj - plumbing in manifold
Posted: 15 Aug 2010, 12:04
I'm swapping my 1.9dg engine for a 2.1dj.
My 1.9 has lpg. So to keep the lpg system I'm following the advice on the forums and dumping the fuel injection and putting my manifold and carb on instead.
My dg is 1983 so it has the early water system. I know the easiest option is to use the water system from a late dg but I don't have this.
The 1989 2.1dj I want to put in is complete, has all the water pipes etc. So as far as I can see I just need to plumb in the inlet manifold to the water system
(well also the webber replacement carb as well but this is plumbed in line with the manifold).
So my question is where do I plumb in the manifold on the 2.1 water system?
(I have a bit of plan but don't know if it's the right place.
On my 1.9 the water outlet from no.3 cylinder (top left from back of van) goes to the manifold, carb and then to the pipe with the carb temp sensor in and back to the header tank. On the 2.1 the water outlet for no.3 comes out of the bottom of the thermostat housing and up to the water distribution pipe (thin and clear and goes half way round the engine). This is a short, thin pipe. So my only plan atm is to use the start and end points of this to plumb the manifold and carb inline.)
From the diagrams I've seen there does seem to be alot of similiarity between late dg and dj water systems.
If any one has a late water system dg ('85 on I think) and could tell me where the manifold is plumbed in, that would help alot.
Many thanks.
