swapping an awning for a bell tent..

I'm seriously considering swapping my awning (khyam motordome) for a bell tent - I only ever use the awning if we do a week or more on holiday, other times I just put the canopy up to shield the rain from the door.

The awning is used mainly for storage (I have a tin top) and we have to put a seperate tent up for Harry to sleep in. With a Bell tent, they are still very easy to put up alone (only one pole) but could be used to sleep in and for storage; also if elder son wanted to use it for music fests or hubby wanted to use it for bike races its big enough to fit quite a few peeps in.

so.....would I be mad to get rid of the khyam? or shall I just go for it

We have used a large Gelert tent (six berth) for some years now mainly owing to travelling with a big dog (he needs his space  ). This has given us lots of space for us two and damp dog syndrome on wet days and storage etc.... however it does gets increasingly tiresome having to put it up and take it down when touring and only stopping for a night or so and a you are never connected to your van. This has also been a factor as to whether we move on or not.

So....weve just obtained a khyam Classic ...we are definately losing a bit of space but have weighed that up against time, tension and stress of putting the tent up (especially if it looks like rain, you can't even have a cuppa before you start  ).

Hopefully the awning will save a few arguments......it is a personal choice and what you consider more important..
