pulled the the front drive shafts this afternoon as i wanted to regrease the CV joints as the tie thingy was letting grease past and making a mess around the breaks :( , firstly are the metle clip/things that hold the boots on avalibe to buy any where?

secondly i replace the tie rod ends 9 months ago, not with crappy ones, they were from tps so origional equipment, the have allread split on the rubber boot so failing, is this sort of wear normal i am gussing not? has any one returned any thing to tps? i under stand that all there stuff has a 2 year warwnty, but i an a bit buggered as i cant take the tie rod end to return it as the van will be off the road etc. are there any super tough ones out there?

we get our metal tie clip kits from a local motor factor. john rickards....01792 884118 although we`are a way away from you.

ball joint boot rubbers are the bane of my life. i`ve been meaning to chase up replacements. i`ve seen faffy coloured show ones somewhere but can remember where and dont know if they`d bee any more durable either.

the late circlip is still available from vw, the early ones aren't but I have them in stock, ideally you want the correct crimp tool, but a pair of pincers and a hammer will suffice

never seen a tie rod end boot split, get a replacement from Baxter and send the old one back to TPS, I've never had a part fail inside 2 years from them

I bought the correct tool for the one-eared clamps (as I believe they're called) from GSF for about £12. I used it on my front CV boots as well as the fuel lines on my KTM. They do make it an easier job than pincers and a hammer!
