HT Leads

I'm travelling through the Scottish Highlands right now and I'm having problems with my main HT lead (I think!)
. I'm having great trouble finding a supplier that A.) can identify what lead I'd need, and B.) can supply a lead reasonably swiftly - those suppliers who think they know which lead I require, say it will take days to arrive, but as I'm on the move towards an Orkney ferry, I don't really want to hang around.

I'm driving a 1980, 2L air-cooled. Can anyone tell me what lead, or indeed leads (I'll pay for the set, if needs be) I require. OR can anyone recommend a parts supplier or garage in the Inverness area.

I'm really sorry if this information is already posted, but forum my searches didn't seem to find anything.

Thanks

You could try ringing Syncro-Nutz and see if they know any garages near Inverness that could help you. Only other suggestion would be mail order from Brickwerks. Depending which ferry you're getting to Orkney, there's a campsite at Stromness and one in Kirkwall who may agree to having a parcel sent to them (or try the main post office in Kirkwall), but that won't help you getting on / off the ferry with a poorly engine!

Have a good read of the info about the Brickwerks leads though. Probably best to replace the full set of leads.

If its your HT lead, coil to distributor, any motor factor such as Halfords etc should do one. There's nothing special about it

You could contact these people and see if they have a spare they could sell you if you give them the old sob story

Like Gunslinger said, a standard HT lead from the coil to distributor would be OK from Halfords in Inverness. Just match up to the closest length, slightly longer wouldn't be a problem.

Thanks for the info!. Doh, the obvious Halfords! I've just given them a ring and they'll sort me out. I'll be on my way again soon!
