Club 80-90 Forums

Does anyone have any recommendations for good campsites in and around Dorset,planning on going next week but just wanted to"bum around",risky I know at this time of year without pre-booking but dont want to be tied to any one site.

Stayed at Toms Field (http://www.tomsfieldcamping.co.uk" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;)

and Burnbake (http://www.btinternet.com/~burnbakecampsite" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; - not much of a website but is a good site.

both very good, clean etc.

Another vote for Tom's field - nice site, and a lovely bit of the world.

Riverside lakes is also meant to be a good one.

If you want family fun and great views/ walks, this is good

Toms field is great, but have a back-up as timeout, the Guardien and Cool Camping have ensured it's impossible to get on!

Try this one, it's near Kimmeridge Bay. the site is a bit basic, it has toilets but no showers, it's very laid back, fires are allowed and you can always get on as it's three huge fields.

Highlands End is nice. Stunning views out sea.
Its less than a mile from my house and I've done a lot of work there. Its a good clean site.

yeah we liked Burnbake, basic, but nice and quiet, excellent for chilling

We like Osmington Mills On The Corner; just between weymouth and wareham. Beautiful views nice and handy for lovely Ringstead Bay, Clean but basic facilities Hope you have a great break....Margaret

If you go to Tom's Field area, there are two of most spectacular views from pubs that I've experienced. They aren't a walk but not too far away that:

+ Scotts Arms that also had an amazing Jamaican food "shed" attached to it that did brilliant food.

+ Square & Compass, Worth Matravers - randomly have a fossil museum there as well!!! There is a public car park just up from the pub, there's not usually any space to park on the tight local roads.

I posted somewhere else on here: eype house , http://www.eypehouse.co.uk/. really nice site on cliffs ( not too near!)steep lane going down to site can get busy, but nice swimming and good fishing too. basic facilities. I come from bridport 4 miles away and still go on occasion. pretty much every pitch a seaview, no caravans, always a few vws there too!

Amazed that Durdle Door has not been mentioned on here, great location, great facilities. Clifftop walks, right next to Lulworth Cove. Lots to do nearby - Lulworth Castle, Tank Museum, Monkey World! Been there 5 or 6 times and will go again. Worth a look.

Have you looked at the campsite at Herston on the edge of Swanage. Last year we travelled down to Swanage to look at a camper and Toms Field was full. The site at Herston http://www.herstonleisure.co.uk/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; is within walking distance of Swanage and and has a station for the steam train just down the lane. Its a mix of yurts, hook up pitches and two overflow fields. Nice open views and excellent facilities. We had a smashing time but perhaps that was because we had a night away from the kids .

Possibly looking for another camper at the moment - previously had T25 westfalia and a T25 Autosleeper Trident. Considering a T4 but they just don't seem to have the same interior space and there seems to be wild variations in price. Keep coming back to have a look on club 80-90..... its an addiction!

Ya we stayed there last Summer...until our pitch flooded Nice site though, if a little expensive and don't stay on pitch T3..How strange is that pitch T3
