pop tops

I've been on the look out for a westy pop top for a while to convert my tin top.

Saw this earlier on fleabay: http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll? ... _500wt_949

The seller seems to be suggesting cutting the whole roof off at the pillars and welding this roof on to convert a tintop.
Is this the normal way a pop top would be fitted? I thought it sounds a little extreme and possibly dangerous! Aren't there chassis strength issues in cutting roof pillars?

must admit, never known one fitted like that before. do not cut your roof off. serious note, genuine westy vans have a different shape roof to normal vans so this is not as straight forward as simply swapping it onto your roof. They can be fitted and i have 1 on mine but have used the westy mozaic kit. have a look here at one, not mine but a good job done.

That's a great thread, thanks. :ok
I didn't realise the roof shape was different, it's certainly more involved than I had imagined. I would love to get the O'Connors poptop fitted but it's just sooo much money. I guess I will just continue stooping for now!
