I was over at Chalvington last Sunday at the SVWOC day and saw many a fine van on show. One van in particular parked in the car park (so I could'nt ask the owner) had a different set of headlights (round ones) to any other I'd seen before.

They were the same size as the standard version and no mods were made to the grill but they were definately more modern. The lights in ours are woefully poor.

I am not gonna annoy everyone on the road and buy some ridiculous xenon bulbs (dont you just wanna smash em every time you see the dazzling white/blue lights approaching you!). I dont know wether they are Golf Headlights maybe but they certainly looked the biz as it were... any ideas anyone?

looking at some pics the Mk1 Golf Headlights look remarkably similar in fitting to the T25... anyone else fitted these or tried anything else?

light spread is wrong as designed for low car mounting but there will be peeps who've made them fit, early Golf is same technology lighting
ours are fine if you have the H4 version and run decent modern bulbs and do the relay upgrade as per wiki
if you have the pre H4s then look out for some at the shows they're not much money usually

Couldn't agree more, TBH think much the same of over-bright rear LED brake lights... unnecessary IMHO and prevent proper view of road & traffic ahead (esp. autobox drivers on/off/on/off brakes all the time)

This link might help as Aidan says with a relay and improved contacts (bulb grease) and better bulbs std H4s can be pretty good...

like these ???? I have found they give of plenty of light at night spread seams fine

there golf MK2 headlights bit more faff than MK1's but cheaper!
