hello all, quick Q for anyone i started my bus up yesterday and there was a knockin sound on start up coming from engine from wot sounds like drivers side, i have noticed it b4 but usually gone after 10-20 seconds but this time 5minutes, i know its abit vauge but just wondered if anyone had similar experiance thanks in advance for any replies

Happens if a vans left stood for a bit. Something to do with oil in the tappets or something. Generally disappears after a run.

that or your engine's broke..............

you have tappet rattle, the oil has drained out of the lifters, and it rattles untill they fill up and bleed again.... its normal.......
1.if the van has been stood for a while
2.if the oil needs changing
3.if one or more of the lifters need replacing....

i thought ( well hoped) it mite be something like that, its been stood 5 days, oil needs changing, ill give it run later, thanks for fast repiles ur all stars

quick update just back after ride out and looks like u guys were right, noise from engine cleared after few miles so thanks for advice peeps
