Hoses for 2.1 oil cooler

I need to pipe up the oil cooler on my 2.1 engine for when its fitted in my van, as the old engine was a 1.9
I have two "L" hoses for the oil cooler pipes and one straight hose that goes onto the thermostat housing and thats it, but as i dont have the metal pipes they connect to i may not be able to use them.
Im thinking instead of metal pipes i will have to just use rubber hoses for the whole oil cooler system instead, if i can. I thought about using copper pipe but ive heard mixed reports about whether its safe to use or not, and would rather not risk it.
Does anyone know if the general hoses sold at auto spares shops will be upto the job of being used in the cooling system, and if i will be able to get hoses big enough? I think the hoses sold are generally for fuel.
Thanks

You're fitting the oil/water heat-exchanger from a 2.1 to the oil filter housing head, on a 1.9DG ?
Autoshops/ Motofaxes sell hose suitable for hot water in cooling systems in a variety of IDs, typically 15mm and 22mm are quite common, but almost anything is available if yo look a round enough. Specify what it's for when you ask for it.
If you've got some 'L' pattern hoses, then you could use these, linking with proper hose joiners e.g. plastic double-ended barbs or metal, even a suitable well-fitting piece of copper plumbing pipe (eek! the dreaded copper, but its only about 3" per join!).. or even steel. Use proper hose clamps, not silly too small jubs, and use 2 clips per each end of joiner.

the originals are a mix of sizes because the pipes/bosses all have different diameters so the rubber joints are special to match them, if you're not using the pipes it'll be possible but there will be places where you have different id ends

We stock the rubbers and will shortly be stocking stainless solid pipes.
Waterpump on a 2.1l is different as it has an extra pipe connection.
Thermostat housing is different on a 2.1l as again it has an extra take off.

I bought a new 2.1 thermostat housing from you and have a 2.1 waterpump.
It would be nice to have the stainless solid pipes but i dont have time to wait , im going to an auto spares place to get the rubber pipes needed.
I have just fixed a leak i had on my central heating system in my house using 15mm plastic pipe, the pipe says its rates 7/12 bar dont know why it has both written on.
Though using plastic pipe on the van seems abit of a risk.

7/12
hot/cold ?
Probably not a good idea, at potentially > 100 C and greater pressure too

Yep possibly hot/cold.
Just an idea but yes i think you are right too much risk, the pipe doesnt look that strong!
Fingers crossed engine is going back in tomorrow, then i will buy some hoses and get them "bodged" on

Managed to hook up the oil cooler using rubber hoses.
Big hose from thermostat to cooler, big hose from cooler to stainless connecter then to small hose onto the water pump.
Didnt really want to use stainless steel but its only one connector could be worse.
