Eber Fuse

For some reason it didn't post first time.......

What should an eber fuse look like? Basically I had to change a fuse for the cig lighter yesterday and remembered from a recent conversation on here that the fuse for the eber being on the door post on the drivers side (in a Westy anyway). As we've never used it, i not been bothered by it not working, but always thought it may be the fuse. So i opened the box and "wiggled" it, hey presto we now have a working eber - at least the fan, time/timer work but not really tried the heating. Now I know that essentially a fuse is a piece of wire but I was expecting to see a more "professional" fuse such as Image
in place, ours is a thick piece of wire is a red plastic housing (very DIY appearance, which may be ok) but it certainly doesn't sit right and looks a bit corroded, what should it look like?

Sorry i can't post a picture at the moment but will later.

Cheers

bit of wire sounds about right for westy wiring.....

but then, inside that household 13amp fuse you pictured, is.......... a peice of 13amp fuse wire....

Best thing to do is remove and replace the fuses with new then clean up the terminals with a piece of fine wet and dry or something similar.
Or if you have the time replace the whole unit with a new blade fuse setup as some have done.

that's what mine looks like. I take it that's what every one else's look like as well then. What do you replace with or where can I get replacements as I've never seen anything like them before?

I'll check the back when there's a bit more light.
