there's a possibility of me prying an engineless(was petrol) syncro-2 diff locks, with windows and awful non vw minibus seats in .
It's been sat at a scruffy garage near me for a few years, infact when I looked at the weekend the tax disc said 11/01! :? !!
Offered them some cash for it a couple of years back but the guy said it had had a replacemnt gearbox, and bills to the sum of £1100!!,so they planned to re-engine it to make the cash back.
But it';s still there slowly rotting away, and they've done nothing to it,but jacked it up once or twice in 2 years.
Looks solid, has no seam rust, and was owned (possibly from new) by a local corporate outdoor events company that now get T4's sent to them by the same dealership.
I'd love to tow it home and plop an aaz or jx in it,how much loot should I wave in their faces to get the deal?
Doing the conversion doesn't phase me, I don't want to pay over the odds for something that could have seized up in a big way.
I was thinking of £300-500 in crisp shiney 20's....?

thoughts please.....

easily worth that, easily...

be a gamble that might take cash to fix othe things, as you just won't know without test driving, but easily get that back whatever you do with it

yeah, and I think the owner knows about them too, mind you his description of syncros made me chuckle...
"you know its one of them syncros, they're amazing off road,they....they,...kinda crawl over things like an animal!"...heh heh
See,even if the VC's chumped and the diff locks are seized,(as long as not seized on!!),I'd happily bomb around in it as need a work van that can get roughed up.I could use it in 2wd til i could afford the fix up.

So I guess I should pack the big 500 in the pocket then when I go....

Whats a fair limit on what it could be worth best/worst condition.??

Al i will say on this one is with ure td plans in mind (and just the van in general)be prepared to fork out a small fortune just to get it on the road let alone the full syncro setup.
Ure td parts will come to in exess of £1000 alone(including a well priced secondhand AAZ.Excluding any labour or new parts.
Very little of ure 2WD JX stuff is apropriate to syncro.
Good luck

Loads of hoses etc are different lengths, the engine bars are specific as they carry the engine lower and the bellhousing is different and and and and oh and the petrol tank is different too and that REALLY screws up fitting a diesel to a petrol Syncro.
