I have recently aquired a syncro panel van 1992 with the DG engine, the exhaust is past it's best and would like to replace with stainless and chuck the cat and lambda probe but would this affect the ECU?

If it has cat and lambda then it should be a MV or similar engine code running digifant and yes you can lose the cat but keep the lambda, and probably fit a new one. If it's a dg it won't have any of that fancy modern stiff and it'll have a carb on it

Thanks for info Aiden, sorry about engine code mix up,it is an mv not dg or dj!too many beers! If I retain the lambda probe where do I locate it,strap it in engine compartment? I was looking for a dj engined example as I know they are less compicated but this one came along at the right price!

MV better
you need to fit a lambda boss on the new exhaust , ie specify mv version, and fit the lambda to that

Brickwerks stainless exhausts have the lambda boss in the final section of pipe prior to the silencer and you can buy his kit bit by bit as it is the same pattern as the standard stuff. You could buy the tail pipe, silencer and lambda section then change the rest later?
