I am pondering the merits of either raising springs or spacers to raise my Doka 30-40 mm. Obviously, spacers are the cheapest option by far, but can you run into spring coil bind when using large spacers? Coil bind is one sure fire way to break springs and damage chassis and components so I am wondering whether springs from the likes of SS are worth the extra cash? Another moot point on spacers is that the ride will obviously 'firm' up a little as the spring will be compressed a good deal.

I read of people experiencing shock 'top out' and also cv binding when raising a Syncro. Although there is no exact science due to various manufacturing tolerances, is there an approximate 'safe' height raise before any woes may arise? Ta

Spacers dont cause any issues.. the ride stays the same as you are not compressing them that much and the vehicle just sits a little higher to compensate..
I am running TD spacers on the back and some of Busmans spacers on the front.. neither "top out" and I dont get coil bind.. but then it isnt a full on heavy camper..
Different springs of course must either be much longer or stiffer.. longer springs would poss bind.. if not designed correctly and stiffer ones will make the ride firm...
Coil bind is only going to be an issue if heavily loaded and extreme off road... if it looks like being a problem then the bump stops should be lengthened..

I agree with Simon's reply and would only consider stiffer springs if I was using a heavy camper. I had uprated front springs from Busschmiede but I took them off as they were way to hard for a standard Multivan. I'm running spacers from Syncro Services, standard springs and Trailmaster shocks at the rear and have no issues at all.

Save your money and use spacers.

Instead of spacers on the front might be worth looking at the possibility of either Brickwerks or syncro services longer coilover shocks which have spacers built in actually works out cheaper that buying spacers and shocks and you don't have to worry about the front shock bottoming out. You can then use either standard, stiffer or longer springs depending on your taste.

ive got HD 2wd springs it rides nicely apart from the occasional top out of the front shock, the rear is spacers and ive also moved the shock mount up on the rear trailing arm to stop them topping out, for reference jeep cheroke shocks are a little longer and fit but i found them to soft. mine does a lot of off road work round the farm but not much of it is extreme. got 2.5" lift aprox with no probs with cv joints
