Hi all, just wondering if the tailgate lock is as straight forward to tumble as the sliding door lock? May need to do this job soon and any advice would be useful - thanks!

Yes. Did both of mine.
Re ground the pins to match 1 key and pulled out the superglue from the slider lock.

Ah right, so you ground down the tailgate lock? When you say reground do i put a key that isnt meant for the lock in the lock and then grind all the pins down so there flat? If so does the key never have any trouble fitting the original pins in the lock? (does the key not get stuck on certain pins?)

No trouble getting the key in or out.
Yes just add the key then grind to match the shape of the barrel.

Tho for more security, its good if you can rearrange pins so that all sit flush or higher than they need be with key in - then file.

Yea CovKid thats what i did with my sliding door handle - get the best match then trim to fit. Okay thanks for the advice The_blue and CovKid.
To give background to this story, the reason im asking is because a guy in a huge van backed into our van crumpling the tailgate smashing the window and denting the bumper, we have a 1986 T25 and for some reason it has an earlier tailgate on (lock sticks out by a quarter inch and the "button" is bigger). I have an offer of a later door that is in good condition so its looking like i'll have to re-tumble the lock on it! It never ends!
