32/34 pdsit carbs on a 2ltr Aircooled cu unit

hi im still having probs with my carbs on my 2 ltr Aircooled cu , i changed the gaskets on both carbs but the left carb when letting the electric pump fill the carb, starts pumping out of the little tube thats on the top of the carb,(where the air filter fits), it pumps out in pulses in time with the electric pump ticking , anyone have any ideas as its now staring top get me down , cheers gary,
i have four spare pdsits same numbers but the left carbs dont have a balancing pipe space , does that mean i cant use them as the one fitted to the van has the balancing pipe as a part of the carb body, im near breaking point now cheers
