Next question!! kangaroo!!

Hi,

Next problem.

Bit of background - recon 1.6 TD(JX) fitted 2 months back.

Starts first time, no smoking (very small little puff , tiny when 1st start of day.) Accelerates and seems to be plenty of power, more so than the previous JX that was in her.

BUT, a little niggle keeps happening and it's now getting on my moobs... it seems to happen in 2nd or 3rd typically, it is like a kagarooing effect.

It either happens when dropping back on the gas, or when accelerating back up again. Its like a series of severe shudders/bouncing/almost stalls, but if I gently drop a cog or accelerate it smooths out.

It has all new belts, new oil and fuel filter etc with the new engine.

I am thinking it's fuel related... filled with fresh diesel and it's still doing it!!grrr

Answers on a postcard please!

Got someone else to press on the accelerator earlier and there are a couple of bubbles in the clear fuel line, they eventually go, and then more appear a few minutes later, so air must be getting in somewhere.

Is the clear pipe prone to perishing and small holes at all??

I have looked but I cannot see any holes anywhere... any ideas?

Sorry fella, we're not ignoring you - we're all just pondering it. Does sound as though you've identified problem. Definately check fuel line along its length.

Hi CovKid,

Cheers for the reply matey.

The clear line (where the bubbles appearing) goes onto a different hose (black, not see-thru) Is it literally a case of getting under the van with a torch and checking between the tank and injection pump?

Is it an easy job to replace?

Thanks mate

Indeed, and check any tank breather hoses. I'm not a diesel guru unfortunately but maybe as a first move, check the line for any signs of moisture.

Ok- I shall have a good look tomorrow :-)

I think i will put on a new fuel filter as well, just in case something isn't quite right there.

Can you advise- do I have to fill the fuel filter with diesel prior to fitting it? or just fit it from the box and starting the engine a few times will purge the pump?

Thanks again
Mike
