Flickering interior 12v strip light

Hi
One of my interior 12v lights has developed an annoying flicker which is making it impossible to read.
I swapped the bulb with the other working light but it's still the same. I appreciate that the light is now getting on for 27 years old but I would like to fix it rather than have to replace it. Any ideas?
The light looks like the picture below with a 13w fluorescent tube bulb

I don't think these have starters Rob - at least I've never seen one with one; all done electronically by a sealed unit which, based on the working lamp swap over, is kaput.
I've not seen inside a 13W fitting though, just the single and twin 8W versions....
I suppose there's a slight chance something has occurred with the wiring to the fitting resulting in a drop in voltage at the lamp terminals. The only way to check is to physically remove the fitting and connect the terminals directly to the battery - if it still don't work then you know for sure.

I think I still have the electronic innards from one of these lights at home.
It was working properly when I converted it to LED, If I still have it do you want it?

Make sure you have replaced the tube with one of the same wattage..
The electronics are fairly sensitive to the power being drawn so will miss behave if incorect tubes are fitted.
that being said the thing is probably nackered.
