I've been to see a T25 hard top that I really really like, but as a novice I'm not sure whether it's good value.

On the plus side:
Bodywork is in great nick, the van has been lovingly cared for by the same family for over a decade
MOT passed with flying colours
Water cooled 1.9 petrol engine
Interior in reasonable condition, passenger seat twists around
Drives well and starts easily

On the negative:
122k miles on the clock - is this a lot? The engine was reconditioned at 100k
No rear seat belts - I guess these could be retro-fitted
Currently no bed in top but this looks easy to sort out.
No fridge ?
Not a rock & roll bed, but easily opened out and seems sturdy enough.

I've got to say I like the van but is £4k too much for a vehicle with so many miles? At what point does a VW go to campervan heaven?

Any thoughts or advice welcome.

22k on a recon aint bad.sounds like a reasonable price as well.as said many times on here.bodywork is most important.you can always look for a 2.1 engine for it at a later date.oh and you should get it lpg'd.some pictures would help...

Thanks for the reply. The main concern is the seat belts as I've two kids. Would it be easy to retro-fit these?

Like Rob says, seatbelts are an easy ob and newer belts are better than 20+ year old ones..
I've put 48,000 km on my recon engine in 3 1/2 years and it still runs sweet so I wouldn't worry too much about the mileage (all depends on who did the recon work though I suppose -any paperwork or receipts available to look at?)

My van has done 146k on a (1981) 2 litre Aircooled engine, and it runs as sweet as a nut. I would definately stick with the advice regarding body condition, I didnt, and bought a lump of rust.

Fortunately I knew a guy who was a wizard with bodywork, i put at least £600 of new metal and a respray and it now looks quality.

Interior bits can be done as weekend diy jobs, no biggy. Let us know how you get on.
