I know this will sound a bit silly but i dont have a workshop manual yet, and due to circumstances beyond my control, dont know anything about the dash heater controls. The heater keeps blowing, i must have turned it on but cant find out where. Sorry this sounds a bit blond.
Thanks x

heater fan control is the flat blade type knob marked 0123 next to the heater sliders
sliders- top is place ie screen/feet, middle is hot cold (hot is right) and bottom is fresh air mix, if there are four then third one is for rear passenger mix

Oh dear, I'm sure mine don't work quite like that :?
Top is screen or 'off'
Middle - same as said
Bottom is feet or 'off''

maybe it depends on the year?

yes they do vary with year, you really need the user handbook that came with your van to be sure which is which

I dont think the switch is working properly, its on 0 but hot air is coming out of all the vents.
The sliders (3 of them) are all pushed over to the left side.

if temp is to the left and air is still hot then either it's not connected to or the valve in the coolant circuit which supplies the matrix of the heater has failed, and if someone has had the dash apart to try and fix things may have failed to do so and left the slider cables disconnected. Re the fan blowing all the time if it can't be turned off at the switch then pull the fuse it's number 13, 20 amp in a late van, I don't know which one it is in the early van but the fusebox cover has the description of what each fuse does on the back of it.
What's the engine temp like ?

firstly stop apologising... we all had to start at the beginning
when stationary does air come out of the vents?.. can you hear the fan motor running?

all to the left is wrong...

top two to the left, bottom to the right is cold and all vents shut... are the symbols missing or something?

if you still get heat then the control valve has become disconnected from the lever
if the motor wont stop count thirteen fuses from the left and pull the thirteenth out

No, when stationary the air is not coming from the vents.

ok so the fan is not stuck on.

to stop the heat you'll need two people..
remove the spare from under the van
crawl under and find the hot pipe that goes up into the cab
on that pipe is a valve with a cable to it
when you move the hot/cold lever (middle) you should see it working.

if it don't move then the cable has come off.. that end.... or under the dash end

Hey thanks, for the info I have no heat in my van, the slider for heat won't go all the way to the right and stops in the middle. I will have a look to see if the cable's got jammed :D

You can do it with just one person - via the gearstick gaiter, it's a lot easier to see then. The valve can be changed through there also. (no removing spare or crawling under the van. I changed my valve through there easily.)
