My '84 chrome sliding door handle is rubbing on the bodywork. It has made a nice scraped scoremark in the paintwork where the handle was pushed up and down. Its the pointy bit at the end of the handle thats touching.

Just wondering what causes this and what fixes it, as I'm new to T25s.
Thanks

had same problem- handle was a bit loose and was rubbing on door-managed to get it off -it has a screw behind a plastic plug if I remember rightly then cut some of the edge of it off filed it smooth(mines aluminium) and struggled to put it back on -theres a sort of spacer you put it through (had to take the door card off) -not had a problem since -someone else will probably have another suggestion/fix Jack

suppose if its not that it may well be the bottom roller at fault

Its generally wear (play) in the lock mechanism that causes it. Years of happy use finally showing its toll. Think of it as a mark of affection :D

The same thing happened to me three weeks ago, i have a 1983 A reg Devon pop top with the old style (long) handle. My problem was the casing around the lock inside the door itself, when i removed it by lifting off the inner door panel and removing the retaining screw. The metal around the lock cracked and when force was applied to open the door the crack would open up and finally the door would open, only after the handle traveled 3 inches further marking the door. The only answer i can see is a new handle at around £70, but if you know beater i am all ears.
