Ignition amplifier

Hi,

Just bought Brickwerks ignition amplifier and the unit is not the same as the amplifier I've removed (2.0l petrol Aircooled).

The unit has a metal backplate attached to it and the existing holes don't line up.

I don't really want to drill the engine bay to fit this. Anyone experienced same problem / got any suggestions?...

Thanks,

Chris

early and late.

you have the early one which seperates from the heatsink , later , which i presume you have bought is fixed to the heatsink.

either track down an old early unit or drill the holes for the new unit.

2 oles for the later unit , 3 for the early as you need to undo the heatsink.

Thanks folks.

So just so I'm clear, do I remove the old heat sink that what attached to the engine bay (3 screws attaching this) and just put the new unit in as it is via drilling 2 new holes?

Cheers,

Chris

yes , but just drill 1 hole , and use an old hole!

connect the ign amp first and make sure the engine runs (i know it will)

it dosent need an earth or wont get too hot!

When I removed mine I found it had been bedded down on white heat sink compound as sold in places like Maplins for mounting PC processor coolers. I happened to have some so I used it when I replaced it. maybe the previous owner was a bit of a pedant or maybe it is on the factory spec. Anyone know? Just out of interest...
