Brickwerks carb refurb kit

Hi,

In the process of refurbing both Solex CU carbs on our 2.0l petrol air-cooled - using the refurb kit from Brickwerks.

I think when I ordered this there was some reference to the gasket that fits on the top (by the float bowl) not being the same thickness as the original and therefore some fettling was required on the float?

Has anyone fitted this kit or had any similar problems and got any suggestions as to what I need to do. Just wanted to check before I put it all back together again...

Many thanks,

Chris

If i remember, when i did mine the answer was to put two washers on the float jet (the small fibre washers) ie use the old one and the new one.
I think mine had a steel washer as the original. I also put a very very thin layer of gasket sealant when fitting the top half of the carb to the bottom.
Its run fine ever since.
I'm sure there was something about not fitting the new float jet supplied as it is poor quality!

I'll try and rack my brain a for a bit more info !!

Cheers.

There was a steel washer fitted originally which I've kept but did replace the float valve and used just the copper washer supplied in the kit.

I've checked the old gasket that came out and seems to be the same thickness so why would there be any need to adjust?

Also, would I be better putting the old float valves back in then?

Ta,

Chris
